Four depot teams from Brighton and Hove Buses competed against each other in another fabulous football tournament at Worthing Football Club in aid of Rockinghorse.
Around 300 people came along, including 80 players, for a great day of football and fun at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium in Worthing on 1 June.
The tournament had four teams taking part: Whitehaven, Conway Wonderers, Metrobus and Lewes Road, with some fierce competition on the pitch to win the ultimate honor of being overall winners.
After a tense final between Conway Wonderers and Metrobus, the eventual winners of the 1-0 thriller were Metrobus!
The event was not only great fun, but also a chance for family, friends and colleagues to get together to raise funds for Rockinghorse. In total just under £3,000 was raised on the day and through player sponsorship, an amazing amount of money that will make a huge difference to the support we are able to provide.
Richie Toner, Operations and Detail Supervisor for Brighton & Hove Buses, pictured here with Darren Burstow, who helped to organise the event said, “We’re proud to support Rockinghorse and their incredible work helping sick children and their families across Sussex.
“Every pound raised makes a real difference and all of us at Brighton & Hove and Metrobus are honoured to play a part in their mission to bring comfort, care and hope where it’s needed most.”
Amanda Hetherington, Head of Partnerships at Rockinghorse, was really thankful for all the support that Brighton and Hove Buses have shown Rockinghorse. She said, “Brighton and Hove Buses are such great supporters or Rockinghorse and the work we do, and to raise this much money is amazing!
“We send our thanks out to everyone who went along to the tournament, to all the players, organisers and those who donated to raise these funds. We rely so much on supporters and events like this in our local community, and we simply can’t thank you all enough.”
