Woodland Wellbeing Days

Woodland Wellbeing for the Diabetes Team
The Diabetes Team at the Alex is running more Woodland Wellbeing Days, for children learning to manage their condition, and some transition events for older children with Diabetes as they prepare for the transition to adult services.
The Woodland Wellbeing sessions are aimed at helping to build self-esteem, promote emotional resilience and give children a fun day out that helps build their confidence. They are also a great way for children to meet others living with a long-term medical conditions, helping to reduce their sense of isolation and difference.
The sessions will take place at the wilderness site in Stanmer Park in Brighton and will involve playing games, building dens and learning how to light fires using steels – all surrounded by and involving nature.
The transition events for older children are planned to take place in informal sessions such as Yellow Wave Beach Cafe, or bowling, and will use a special structured education programme to help the young people who will soon be leaving children’s services, to help them get used to the change in support they will receive.
