We’re looking for a volunteer to help reach new supporters across Sussex and help raise vital funds.

Job Description

  • Post Title:                          Rockinghorse Volunteer Ambassador
  • Responsible to:           Supporter Engagement Manager
  • Purpose of Job:               Supporting the work of Rockinghorse by fundraising with friends, colleagues, family and local businesses
  • Location:                       Rockinghorse Children’s Charity is based in central Brighton. Our work is across Sussex.
  • Contract:                       Part time (hours negotiable). Unpaid.

About the role

Rockinghorse Children’s Charity are seeking a volunteer to help us reach new supporters across Sussex and raise vital funds. You will be raising awareness of Rockinghorse by attending or organising fundraising events in your local areas, and promoting the charity’s work.

This role is voluntary and unpaid, although reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.  Full training will be given, and this is a great way to expand your knowledge of the charity sector and develop new skills.

Duties of the role

Various opportunities to get involved with fundraising activities, including:

  • Attending fundraising events and collecting funds on behalf of Rockinghorse.
  • Organising a fundraising event once or twice a year in your local area.
  • Acting as an ambassador for Rockinghorse fundraising events.
  • Taking part or recruiting a team who would like to take part in a Rockinghorse walking, cycling or running event.
  • Representing Rockinghorse while managing a stall at a local event.
  • Running a raffle and selling tickets at fundraising events.
  • Holding a bucket collection at a local supermarket to raise funds for Rockinghorse.
  • Participating in creating new ideas and opportunities for fundraising.
  • Publicising and promoting Rockinghorse’s fundraising events and activities within the local community.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident talking to a wide range of people.
  • Able to work using your own initiative.
  • Able to be a team member.
  • Enthusiastic about helping a local charity.
  • Keen to learn about working in an office environment.
  • Commitment to Rockinghorse Children’s Charity’s purpose and work.
