Volunteer Community Ambassador
Become a volunteer Community Ambassador for Rockinghorse.
We’re always looking for a volunteer ambassadors to help reach new supporters across Sussex and help raise vital funds.
About this role
This voluntary, flexible role supports our vital work across Sussex by promoting our projects, events and campaigns, and helping us to build and maintain robust partnerships within the local community.
What you’ll do
- Publicise and promote the charity’s work, projects, events and campaigns
- Connect with and reach out to potential, new and existing supporters, fundraisers and corporate partners across Sussex
- Attend corporate fundraising events and cheque collections on behalf of Rockinghorse
- Support with fundraising, challenge, corporate and community events
- Represent us for speaker slots and manage event stalls/stands
- Coordinate donations and bucket collections as needed

You’ll add value to your local area by championing our cause, bringing people together and developing effective partnerships within the community. Where and when?
Our Community Ambassadors are familiar with our charity, corporate partners, local hospitals and head office team, and give up their time whenever they can, to champion our vital work. They may have partnered with Rockinghorse in a voluntary or fundraising capacity before, or they might have personal experience of being supported by us.
Community Ambassadors
- Are friendly, confident and able to communicate with people from all walks of life, in diverse settings
- Feel comfortable to present on and speak about Rockinghorse (after the relevant training!)
- Can demonstrate event management, B2B, partnership and fundraising capabilities
- Have a thorough working knowledge of the charity’s brand, purpose, projects and impact
- May have personal experience of being supported by the paediatric healthcare settings and projects that we support
- Are willing and able to travel within Sussex as needed
Recruitment process

- Informal interview with our Volunteer Coordinator, Holly Lloyd Williams
- Provide one personal and one professional reference
- Extended DBS check carried out by Rockinghorse HQ
- Complete our onboarding process, including role-specific training
- Attend a tour of The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital

Volunteer roles with Rockinghorse are unpaid, though reasonable expenses are reimbursed. In line with our robust safeguarding procedures, all appointments are subject to a standard referencing process and an enhanced DBS check.
