Volunteer to help with our charity events.
We recruit Events Volunteers on an ongoing basis to help with our events and activities.
About the role
This voluntary, flexible role involves representing Rockinghorse at community and challenge events by setting up stalls, selling raffle tickets, collecting donations, preparing materials, and providing enthusiastic support to promote the charity’s work.
What you’ll do
- Attend events to sell raffle tickets and collect donations
- Prepare materials, resources and prizes
- Support with setting up and clearing down
- Run stands or stalls at community events
- Marshal, cheer and support at challenge events, like bike rides, runs and walks
- Represent Rockinghorse and promote our work
How you’ll make an impact
By helping events to run smoothly, you will directly influence our capacity to fundraise and help to boost our profile within the community. And by giving up your precious time, you will help us to expand our reach, attend more events and raise more money!
Where and when?
Event Volunteers work with us on an ad hoc basis, when individual availability aligns with our event dates. We send out a monthly email bulletin of upcoming opportunities and volunteers express their interest by return.
Event volunteers
- Are friendly, confident and personable
- Are reliable and organised
- Can adapt to diverse settings and situations
- Have a good understanding of the charity’s work and impact
- Are willing and able to travel to events across Sussex
Recruitment process
- Send expression of interest and CV to holly@rockinghorse.org.uk
- Intro call with our Volunteer Coordinator, Holly Lloyd Williams
- Provide one personal or one professional reference
- Extended DBS check carried out by Rockinghorse HQ
- Complete our onboarding process, including introductory training

Important information
Volunteer roles with Rockinghorse are unpaid, though reasonable expenses are reimbursed. In line with our robust safeguarding procedures, all appointments are subject to a standard referencing process and an enhanced DBS check.
