We are looking for a Collection Tin Coordinator volunteer to help manage our collection tins within the local community.
Job description
- Post Title: Collection Tin Coordinator – Volunteer
- Responsible to: Supporter Engagement Manager
- Purpose of Job: To help raise vital funds for Rockinghorse by coordinating collection tines across the community.
- Location: Rockinghorse Children’s Charity is based in central Brighton. Our work is across Sussex.
- Contract: Part time (hours negotiable). Unpaid

About the role
Rockinghorse Children’s Charity is seeking a volunteer to help us to distribute and monitor charity collection tins in the community across Sussex.
This role is voluntary and unpaid, although reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Full training will be given, and this is a great way to expand your knowledge of the charity sector and develop new skills.
Duties of the role
- Contacting local businesses, either face-to-face or over the phone to find suitable locations to place our collection tins.
- Developing strong relationships with the collection tin sites.
- Deliver collection tins to the agreed locations and ensure necessary paperwork is completed.
- Keep records of where all tins have been placed.
- Follow up on the placed collection tins 2-3 times a year to assess whether they are full and need collecting and replacing.
- Empty, count bank and record donations from the tins.
- Sending collection tin sites a thank you letter and certificate with the total they have raised each year.
- Raise awareness of Rockinghorse and our work through talking to friends and family and on personal social media channels.
- Publicising and promoting Rockinghorse’s fundraising events and activities within the local community.


Person Specification
Essential:
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident in approaching businesses and organisations who may be able to take a collection tin.
- An honest and trustworthy nature.
- Able to be a team member.
- Enthusiastic about helping a local charity.
- Keen to learn about or make use of skills in events management and support.
- Commitment to Rockinghorse Children’s Charity’s purpose and work
