Adding £1 to the bill

How your restaurant or cafe can support us.

Adding a small donation to your customer’s bill is an easy and cost-effective way to support us.

About the initiative

Adding an optional donation to Rockinghorse on your bills is an easy and effective way to support your local children’s charity.

It will make a huge impact on our ability to support thousands of babies, children and young people and it’s a great way to show your employees that you care about your local community.

And even better, it’s quick easy to set up. Just read on to find out more.

How to set it up

Setting up a donation is really easy to set up and has minimal admin for your staff. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Label the £1 charge ‘Rockinghorse Children’s Charity Donation’ on your electronic bill.
  • Set the donation so it’s automatically added to each bill after service charge and VAT so there’s no impact on your VAT return.
  • Collect the total each month and send it to us by cheque or bank transfer.
  • Celebrate your team’s success!

You can choose to add a simple £1 to the bill, you could choose 50p, or to round up the bill to the next pound.

For example, if the bill is £10.34, the customer can choose to round it up to £11.00, giving us a donation of 66p.

Just choose which option will work best for your customers and staff team.

Clarity for customers

Transparency is key to making sure the donation doesn’t come as a surprise to your customers and that your business is trustworthy.

We will provide you with cards for each table or to insert in the bill folder to present the initiative, explaining that a voluntary £1 will be added to the bill as a donation to Rockinghorse.

It will also explain that the donation will go towards the our Wellbeing Service, along with a QR code to the our website.
