Woodland Wellbeing for Oncology Patients

Woodland Wellbeing

The Oncolcogy Psychology Team at the Alex often receive referrals for young cancer patients following their treatment. Adjusting to normal life after the impact of their diagnosis and treatment can be very emotionally and physically demanding. Whether it’s adjusting to school, friendships, low mood or anxiety, there can be a lot to deal with.

These Woodland Wellbeing sessions are aimed at providing an opportunity for young people to connect with their strengths and resources in a natural setting. They are also a great way for children to meet others with a shared experience, helping to reduce their sense of isolation and difference.

The sessions will take place at the wilderness site in Stanmer Park in Brighton and will involve playing games, building dens and learning how to light fires using steels – all surrounded by and involving nature.
