Tudor House Sensory Garden

Tudor House Sensory Garden

Tudor House is a specialist residential support service for young people with severe learning and physical disabilities. The service offers short breaks for young people from the ages of 8 to 18, many of whom are autistic.

The scheme has an outside space that they want to turn into an inclusive sensory garden, offering their young people a space that every child, regardless of their mobility, can access.

Their ideal is a garden that’s calming and will help the children regulate their feelings and behaviors by providing a range of different sensory experiences.

Children will be encouraged to to help care for and tend the plants, something that will help to foster a sense of pride and responsibility and for some, an increase in their confidence and self-esteem.

Being able to provide this amazing space will really help the staff at Tudor House expand the leisure activities that they are able to offer, and provide a lasting impact for many more young people in the future.
