Tree of Life workshop
Tree of Life workshop
Children with long-term health conditions can often struggle to manage both their physical and mental well-being. Charlotte Savins, Paediatric Psychologist at the Royal Alex, works with these children and sees the challenges they face every day.
So, we have agreed to fund a four-week Tree of Life workshop for a group of children with these long-term conditions.
This workshop focuses on a child’s life, hopes and dreams away from the hospital rather than their medical conditions, and the sessions will be open to children and young people from all over Sussex.
Originating in South Africa to help children orphaned through AIDS, it’s now become much more widely used within paediatric sessions and allows these children to build their resilience, meet other children in a similar position and alleviate their sense of isolation.
All of which, in the long term, will help them better manage their condition and mental well-being.
