Surgery simulation equipment

Surgery simulation equipment

For junior doctors, learning to operate on smaller bodies is a key part of their training, as is refresher training on surgeries that occur less regularly. So it’s important during this process to have ways to do this in simulation rather than on real children.

In order to help this, we are funding some new training equipment and consumable items to help.

The equipment is tailored to a range of learning needs, including mimicking the skills learned in Basic Surgical Skills and training in laparoscopy and keyhole surgery.

The consumables include artificial ‘tissue’ for the doctors to have as close to a real world experience as possible. All of this helps these new doctors provide the absolute best care to their patients going forward.
