Personalised asthma treatment research

Personalised asthma treatment
Over 1.1 million children in the UK are currently receiving treatment for asthma. So finding the best, most effective treatment, is vital.
The condition is usually treated with inhalers but until recently, treatment has been untargeted, with the same approach used regardless of the individual child or any underlying conditions they have.
But we are funding some extended research by Professor Somnath Mukhopadhyay and his team at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School which uses a personalised approach to treatment based on the genotype of the individual child.
This is game-changing work that is leading the sector in personalised medicine treatment for children with asthma.
Thanks to the Cullum Family Trust for funding this project.
