Parrot Plus Speech Test devices
When a child has hearing or Auditory Processing Difficulties, they are referred for hearing and speech tests. While hearing tests detect the ability of a child to hear, speech tests look at how a child processes the information they hear and what they do with that information. A child can have normal hearing but struggle to process sound.
One of the most effective hearing assessments to detect auditory problems is speech perception testing, which tests how the sounds of language are heard, interpreted and understood.
In 45% of cases, children attending Audiology departments in Sussex, report having problems hearing in the classroom. Despite this, the old speech perception testing equipment used in hospitals cannot replicate a noisy environment.
However, these Parrot Plus Speech Test decides can now replicate the kinds of environments in which children report having difficulties, giving a true and much more accurate picture of how well a child can process sound in all environments.
