Blood Sugar Machines

As anyone with diabetes knows, the condition means lots of treatment, lifestyle changes and regular hospital visits.

For children, this can be a lot to deal with, and having to have blood tests four times a year at The Alex can be an scary and anxious experience.

So, we are funding an additional portable DCA machine at the hospital for the Children and Young Persons Diabetes Team. This machine test the average blood glucose levels at their clinics without the need to have blood taken in the normal way.

We are also funding the servicing of two older machines within the department to make sure that they are all working at the best possible level for these younger patients.
