Audiology Waiting Room

It’s always helpful if children feel comfortable and relaxed during their hospital appointments. This is especially true for the Audiology team at The Alex, as acute hearing tests need the full cooperation of their patients to make sure the results are a fair reflection of their hearing ability.

Which is why we are funding the renovation of the waiting area in the audiology department. At the moment the space isn’t fit for purpose with shabby old furniture, no toys or books to help distract the children, and noisy due to the stairs and lift being located nearby.

Our plan is to work with the team to make the space much more child-friendly and help reduce the background noise by using a fabric sail above the space to help make the space quieter.

Hopefully this will mean children come in to their appointments calm, relaxed and ready to have their hearing test to accurately asses their condition.
