Acute Pain Nursing Team Pilot

Acute Pain Nursing Pilot

Many of us associate being in hospital with some kind of pain; most patients experience some form of pain during their stay and alleviating this is one of the NHS staff’s core duties. And for younger patients, being in pain can mean they are worried, scared or reluctant to get the treatment they need.

So, making sure nurses are appropriately trained in how to asses pain and treatment improves the safety and quality of care, not to mention the experience of the patients, is vitally important.

This pilot scheme aims to fund a specialist paediatric nurse to carry out ward rounds, teaching and training sessions and to write guidelines for nurses to follow to help them better manage children’s pain.
