We’re Drusillas Charity of the Year!

Drusillas Park in Alfriston has chosen Rockinghorse as its Charity of the Year for 2018.

Lots of exciting events are being planned for the partnership throughout the year, including a group visit to Drusillas, a ride on the brand new Safari Express train, as well as a trip around the park’s newest attraction, Go Safari! which opened in the summer last year. Rockinghorse will have an ongoing presence at the park, with additional support and fundraising opportunities planned throughout the year.

Drusillas’ beautiful red panda, Mulan, will also be helping to raise funds for our charity. Every time Mulan is adopted 20% of all the proceeds will be donated to Rockinghorse. We were delighted to meet Mulan in person and were even allowed to feed her!

Ryan Heal, Rockinghorse Chief Executive, said: “As you can imagine, we’re thrilled to be working with Drusillas this year as their charity partner. Drusillas is a Sussex institution and we are very excited about sharing the features of the partnership with young patients of the Royal Alex and other children’s services and centres across Sussex that benefit from our work. It’s a truly wonderful start to 2018.”

Here at Rockinghorse, our aim is to improve the lives of sick children throughout Sussex. We are the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton, raising money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment, whilst ensuring that children are treated in an environment better suited to their needs.

We also support the neighbouring Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton, and its sister site, the Special Care Baby Unit based at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, as well as other paediatric services and respite centres throughout Sussex. Working in partnership with these services, we strive to make them stimulating, cutting edge and accessible for the many babies, children and teenagers who need them.

Drusillas’ Managing Director, Christine Smith, commented: “We are thrilled to be working with Rockinghorse in 2018. As Drusillas Park is enjoyed by so many young families it is very important to us to support a charity that provides such amazing care for children. We are very proud to be partnering with Rockinghorse and look forward to working closely with them over the course of the year.”

Located just off the A27 in Alfriston, Drusillas Park is open daily from 10am. For more information please telephone 01323 874100 or visit www.drusillas.co.uk.
