We’re Domestic & General’s chosen charity!

We are very pleased to have been announced as Domestic & General’s local charity of the year for the second year running.

Over 900 employees from the company’s Brighton office took part in a vote to determine which local charity they will support in 2016. An overwhelming majority voted for Rockinghorse, confirming we will receive fundraising support from the company for another 12 months.

Craig White, UK Customer Service Director at Domestic & General, said: “It’s become clear that many of our employees have a personal affiliation with Rockinghorse – either through experiences with their own children, personally when growing up or through friends, family or colleagues who’ve been supported through the charity’s work. The cause is so close to many of our hearts that it felt only right to include Rockinghorse in this year’s local charity shortlist; the result of the employee vote speaks for itself.”

In the last year, through events such as Paddle Round the Pier, The Santa Dash and the Brighton Christmas Light Switch On, Domestic & General employees raised over £7000 to help make life better for sick children in Sussex. Employees also gave their time in volunteering and the company donated a number of appliances to some of the facilities we support, including the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) and Ronald McDonald House in Brighton.

Analiese Doctrove, Head of Fundraising at Rockinghorse, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as Domestic & General’s local charity of the year for the second time. Through their fabulous fundraising efforts they have already donated over £7,000 and also gave us an extensive amount of volunteering hours to help us raise vital funds at our local events. To be able to continue to build upon this relationship as their chosen charity in 2016/17 really is wonderful news. The partnership is really important to us; the support of Domestic & General and its employees really does make a huge difference.”

As the official fundraising arm of the Alex, and a vital supporter of the neighbouring Trevor Mann Baby Unit, we raise money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment, while ensuring that children are treated in an environment that is better suited to their needs. We have been supporting children across Sussex for nearly 50 years.
