Vote for our CEO in the Community Stars Awards
The shortlist for the Outstanding Contribution to Sussex Award at the forthcoming Argus Community Stars Awards has been revealed and we are delighted that our CEO, Ryan Heal, has been nominated!
Those joining Ryan in the running are Paul Kemp from Pride and The Saltdean Lido Community Interest Company. Previous winners of the prestigious prize include astronaut Tim Peake.
Celebrating 50 years of supporting sick children in Sussex this year, Ryan joined Rockinghorse as CEO in September 2012. During our Golden Jubilee celebrations, we’ve raised an incredible £500,000 thanks to the wonderful support received. The funds have been split between 10 children’s centres and paediatric services across the county to help them improve, refurbish, and develop their environment.
Born and bred in Brighton, Ryan has always had a huge passion for local charity. He became involved in Rockinghorse when his son John was diagnosed with a serious illness, resulting in regular visits to the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton – of which we are the official fundraising arm.
Speaking of his nomination, Ryan said: “What can I say, I am hugely honoured to have been nominated for this coveted award. As Chief Executive of one of Sussex best-loved charity’s, by pure definition of the role, I would very much like to thank my Rockinghorse team and all of our supporters for continuing to believe in the charity and enabling us to achieve above and beyond what we had hoped for our 50th year.”

The winners will be announced during a ceremony at the Brighton Dome in January.
