The Churchill Square Giving Tree
We are really pleased to have been chosen as the beneficiary charity of this year’s Giving Tree at Churchill Square shopping centre in Brighton.
The Rockinghorse team joined Santa Claus and his elves, along with Miss Brighton and the hospital choir, for a special launch event last week (Thursday 1 December) pictured above.
Now in its sixth year, the campaign is providing presents to young patients at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton over the festive period. Customers are invited to select a special gift tag from the Giving Tree and purchase a gift for a local child. The gift will then need to be taken to the customer service desk and will be collected by members of the Rockinghorse team and distributed at the children’s hospital. The Giving Tree tags can be found in the lower mall on the Christmas tree.
Mark Buchanan-Smith, Churchill Square Centre Director, said he was delighted to be teaming up with Rockinghorse: “For almost fifty years the charity has been helping improve the lives of sick children and babies throughout the region, and we’re honoured to be able to support their work again this year. Our customers helped make last year’s Giving Tree a huge success – donating more than 250 gifts – and we’re hoping this year’s campaign will be even more successful.
“Each successive year I’m blown away by how charitable our customers are and I’m sure they’ll continue to show enormous generosity and Christmas spirit this year. We are very much a part of the community here in Brighton, so for us to be able to get involved in the Giving Tree campaign again is very special for us. Rockinghorse is a charity that does some truly amazing work for the children and young people across the region, and we are really looking forward to another successful Christmas campaign with them.”
As the official fundraising arm of the Alex we raise money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment, as well as ensuring that children are treated in an environment better suited to their needs. We’re celebrating our 50th anniversary next year and have launched the ‘Sussex Giving for Sussex Children’ appeal – to find out more, please click here.Back to news
