Motorsport fans were in for a treat at the Saywell International Supercar Track Day.

Held at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit on Saturday 10 August, the fundraising track day was organised by Saywell International. The company is an aviation parts distributor, based in Worthing and kindly chose to support Rockinghorse at the event.

Over 20 drivers paid to participate in the Supercar Track Day, showcasing a host of supercars, sports cars, and vintage vehicles. Spectators witnessed some rare and expensive cars race around the circuit. They included a Lotus Exige S, McLaren 650s, Mercedes AMG GTR, plus various Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s.

Racing fans were also given the chance to experience the thrill of a supercar themselves, in exchange for a generous donation to Rockinghorse. Peter Saywell is Managing Director of Saywell International and has presented us with a cheque for an incredible £7,611.95.

Thank you Saywell International!

Terrina Barnes, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Rockinghorse is delighted with the donation. She said, “We are absolutely blown away by the extremely generous donation from Peter Saywell following the Supercar Track Day.

“The support we received at the event was amazing and we really enjoyed ourselves. Peter and his son Russell also made sure that we were able to offer youngsters who are supported by our charity, the experience of a ride in a supercar. Thanks to his generosity, there were some very smiley faces on the day.”

Peter Saywell, added, “We (drivers) also had a great day on the track. It is even more rewarding to see that the funds we raised are going to a charity that is fully focused on children. The helpers also went out of their way to ensure that we all had a successful day. Saywell International care about the community and we look forward to more of these special events.”

Supporting Worthing and Chichester hospitals

Rockinghorse is best known as the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton. We also support children’s wards at local hospitals, specialist neonatal units, respite centres and children’s services across Sussex.

Funds raised from the Saywell International Supercar Track Day will be donated to benefit children who are treated at Worthing Hospital and St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester. We have pledged to support the hospitals chest centre by providing a portable lung function machine to benefit both sites. The equipment will be used to treat young patients with Cystic Fibrosis and other chronic chest problems.
