‘Santa Stop Here’
Our friends at Pier Recruitment have created a festive Christmas single, raising funds to support our work, and we know you’re going to love it!
Last year, the team visited the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton where they found out more about our work as the Alex’s official fundraising arm, and in January of this year, they set about fundraising for Rockinghorse.
Pier Recruitment Director, Katie Gibson, explains: “When the Pier Recruitment team and I visited the Alex, we witnessed the fantastic work of the charity first hand. It’s also where we heard the sentence that soon became the epicentre of our 2017 fundraising project; ‘sometimes children worry that Santa won’t know where they are when he visits, so simple things like writing a small note at the end of their Christmas list to explain they are in hospital, really helps’.
“This statement really struck a chord with us. Whilst children’s hospital’s like the Alex do everything in their power to make Christmas as festive and comfortable as possible, it is hard to comprehend the difficulties it must present families with. So, we have decided to do something that would really stand out – something that hasn’t really been done in Sussex before – and something that we hoped would really raise awareness of Rockinghorse. We came up with the crazy idea to write a ‘Band-Aid style’ Christmas charity single to mark the charity’s 50th Anniversary.”
And that is exactly what they’ve done! Having written the song, they tasked themselves the challenge of pitching the fundraising idea and song to local businesses in Brighton and Hove to join them in singing on the track. They were overjoyed that the following companies have joined them, they are; The Focus Group, Posh Totty Designs, ZST Architects, Mercedes-Benz of Brighton, Quality Care Insurance Services, Domestic & General, Cobb Digital, Holiday Taxis, Neilson Holidays, and accompanied by children from Bird Studios and BRICTT. In September, they went to North Brighton Studios to record vocals for the track.
On Wednesday 22 November, Pier Recruitment held an official launch party for the Christmas single ‘Santa Stop Here’ at the Grand Hotel in Brighton, which we were delighted to attend. The event was a great success with over 200 people from local businesses coming together for the launch, helping to raise an initial £1,285 through a charity raffle held on the evening.
Thanks to launch sponsors, participating companies and the charity raffle, Pier Recruitment have already raised a whopping £5,885! They are aiming to double this by Christmas as the song continues to circulate amongst the public. Together, we are hoping that the video for the song receives as many views as possible.
There is a text-to-donate code and we’re hoping supporters will be able to make a donation towards our upcoming projects. We hope you enjoy the song and we thank you in advance for any donations made towards our cause. HUGE thanks to Katie, the team at Pier Recruitment, and to everyone that has made the song a reality.
