Sainsbury’s Local on Western Road in Hove pledged to support Rockinghorse as their chosen charity for the second consecutive year earlier this summer.

Staff at the Sainsbury’s store have continued to support us by collecting donations through our charity tins displayed at the tills, a money spinner, and also by donating their 5p carrier bag charge, raising an incredible £4273.24 since our partnership began in 2015.

The store has also donated lots of goodies for young patients and their families at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton as well as donating refreshments for various fundraising activities which support the work of Rockinghorse.

Liz McCluskey, Schools and Community Fundraising Manager at Rockinghorse, said: “We are so pleased to have been chosen as Charity of the Year by the team at Sainsbury’s Local in Hove for the second year. The staff have really got behind us and have been very generous in their support – they have got some great fundraising ideas planned for our 50th year which we are looking forward to supporting them with.”

Our charity has been supporting sick children in Sussex for nearly 50 years, and we’ve recently pledged to give away £500,000 worth of funding to 10 paediatric centres and services across Sussex as part of our ‘Sussex Giving for Sussex Children’ 50th year appeal in 2017.
