Runners raise funds at Bright 10 race

Brighton was blessed with perfect weather conditions for the third-annual Bright 10 race on Sunday 15 October.

We had 15 runners take part in the 10-mile challenge which started and finished at Hove Lawns. Collectively, our Rockinghorse runners raised a brilliant £3,500 and counting. Those taking part included Chris Randall, CEO of Sussex law firm Mayo Wynne Baxter – who are supporting us as their chosen Charity of the Year.

The Rockinghorse 50th anniversary bus was present on the day, thanks to Brighton & Hove Buses. Spectators and participants could donate to have their name featured on the front of the bus, and the top deck also proved a great viewing platform as runners crossed the finish line. 1,700 people took part in the Bright 10 this year with many running personal bests due to the warm and calm weather conditons on the seafront. Our very own Schools & Community Fundraising Manager, Liz McCluskey, took part and ran a personal best to finish in 1:19:57.

Hannah Seltzer, Challenge Events Fundraising Manager at Rockinghorse, said: “We couldn’t have asked for better weather during this year’s Bright 10 event. Huge thanks to our team of 15 Rockinghorse runners who have helped us raise over £3,500 – with money still coming in! It was a fantastic morning and I’d like to extend our thanks to Brighton & Hove Buses for bringing along the Rockinghorse bus, and to Antony from Reach Physiotherapy for joining us too.”

Many thanks to our team of wonderful volunteers for joining us on the day and helping to support the event, including Andy Voakes who took all the brilliant pictures of our runners. To view the album on our Facebook page, please click here.

Could you support us next year by taking part in a running challenge for Rockinghorse? We have places available in the 2018 Brighton Half Marathon and Brighton Marathon. We are also still taking applications for the London Marathon until the end of this month. Please click here to visit our events page and find out more.
