The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital was once again the setting for a magical light display last night, with local businesses, supporters and the community coming together to support Rockinghorse.
In the run up to Christmas, we have been running our Christmas Campaign again to make sure that no child visiting or staying in hospital this Christmas misses out on the festive fun.
Last night, we created another magical light projection on the side of the children’s hospital to wish all the children and their families and very Merry Christmas and to thank the staff who are working this Christmas.
Spending time in hospital over Christmas isn’t fun for anyone, but it’s even worse for children – not knowing if Father Christmas will know where to find them, not being able to enjoy Christmas at home with their family, not to mention being scared and worried about their treatment.
Part of this year’s display included stars sponsored by local businesses whose support has meant we can make Christmas happen for thousands of children across Sussex. Some of these businesses, including Trident, Organic Zoo, Higgidy, Crafthouse Coffee, MSP Details, Brightcause Consultancy, VPI Energy and Animo Group, came along to the hospital to see the display first-hand and enjoy some festive activities.
During the evening, guests were able to enjoy a musical performance courtesy of Wishing Well Music for Health, decorate
their very own rocking horse Christmas decoration, write a personal message on their branded star on our Christmas tree and enjoy some mince pies and fizz.
Then, despite the very blustery conditions, everyone came outside to the sensory garden space at the hospital to take a look at the display and spot their star!
Earlier in the evening, Rockinghorse staff delivered hampers filled with delicious treats to all the different departments within the children’s hospital as a way of thanking our wonderful NHS workers for all their hard work.
Matt Percival, Managing Director of Operations at MSP Details, supported our campaign and came along to the event last night. He said, “We support Rockinghorse because we love the things they do for children in the community. And I love how they bring people together on golf days and fun events like this. We just love what they do for kids!”
Donna Holland, CEO of Rockinghorse, thanked everyone for their support, “Having so many local businesses support us at this time of year is so special. Thanks to their support we have once again been able to bring some Christmas magic to all the children and families who find themselves in hospital at this time of year.
“Thank you so much for being part of this special campaign. We couldn’t do it without you.”
And there’s still time to support our Christmas campaign. Just take a look at our campaign page here.
