Could you Remember Rockinghorse this Christmas? Find out more about how you can support us this festive season.

It’s been another interesting year with the world slowly coming out of lockdown throughout 2020. And we’re looking forward to being able to celebrate a more normal Christmas this year.

Despite the challenges still facing us all, it’s still important that we continue to work hard supporting babies and children across Sussex with life-saving equipment and much needed services. We also want to make life a little easier for children spending Christmas in hospital this year.

Being in hospital at any time of year can be a scary experience for children, but it seems especially so over the festive season when they will be missing out on so much of the usual excitement and fun.

So, this year, like last year, we are asking our supporters to Remember Rockinghorse and help us raise money for a range of different projects and support for children throughout Sussex.

Along with helping us donate presents and organise fun Christmas activities for children in hospital throughout the county, we are also fundraising to provide mental health and wellbeing projects for children being treated at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and throughout the local community.

The current garden at the Alex

The main project we are fundraising for is a new sensory garden at the Alex. The new garden will be a relaxing, safe space for patients being treated, helping them forget about being in hospital. It will also be a space offering parents a welcome break from the hospital ward.

We are also fundraising for other services such as forest school sessions, yoga and art therapy for children diagnosed with cancer, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and a range of other long-term conditions.

Receiving care for one of these conditions can make a young person feel isolated and can make it difficult for them to understand their feelings at a time when they just want to enjoy being children. These projects are aimed at enabling them to meet other children in a similar situation, offer a safe space to explore their feelings but most importantly, have fun.

Along with donating directly to Rockinghorse, there are lots of ways in which you can support us this Christmas whatever your budget.

Piglet’s Pantry festive treats

You could choose from our range of Christmas cards available to buy here, you could be active and sign up take part in this year’s virtual Santa Dash, or even get some tasty treats from Piglet’s Pantry using the special ‘ROCKINGHORSEXMAS2021’ discount code to get 10% off and includes a donation to Rockinghorse at the same time.

Or you could give a gift for a sick child this year. Along with Giving Tree collection points in Churchill Square and Bluewater shopping centres, you can also do your own collection and then get in contact with Rockinghorse to arrange delivery.

As a charity we completely understand that not everyone is in a position to make a large donation, but anything you can do to help, no matter how big or small, will make a real difference to children in Sussex.

Thank you so much for all your continued support!
