Our London Marathon superstars!
The Virgin Money London Marathon took place last weekend (Sunday 24 April) and saw thousands of runners take part in one of the biggest charity events of the year in the UK.
We had a team of four runners taking part in the race who have raised over £7,000 between them – an incredible achievement!
As the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton, the money raised will help fund ongoing projects at the Alex, as well as the neighbouring Trevor Mann Baby Unit, and its sister site, the Special Care Baby Unit in Haywards Heath.
Rockinghorse supporter Sarah Deverell was joined by friends Lindsey and Tracy for their very first marathon and looked great in their brightly coloured tutus (pictured above, left). They finished the race in 5 hours 49 minutes and have raised over £5,000!
Jason Upton (pictured above right, with his daughters Hollie and Chloe) has taken part in a number of marathon events for us, raising thousands of pounds and also completed the 2016 London Marathon. His support stems from personal experience after his daughter, Chloe, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at just 10 months old. Thanks to the speedy diagnosis and support of the Oncology team at the Alex, Chloe is now happy and healthy and will soon be celebrating her 12th birthday.
We are so grateful for the amazing support from our team of London Marathon runners who really are making a difference to the lives of sick children in Sussex. To find out more about our work, please click here.
