Motor racing stars raising funds for Rockinghorse

The high-octane action of unlimited national banger racing makes its return to Sussex next month for a special charity event in aid of Rockinghorse.

Witness national banger racing at its best as local team The Bears take to Arlington Raceway in Hailsham on Saturday 4 August. Considered the country’s largest and most respected banger racing motorsport team, it is set to be the team’s sixth charity meeting for us in as many years.

The action begins at 6pm for what is promised to be an exciting evening of full on motor racing entertainment from some much-loved characters, including The Bears frontman ‘Nutty Nige’. It is expected a packed crowd will once again turn out once again in support of our cause.

Over the years, The Bears Bash event has raised many thousands of pounds for Rockinghorse. Last year alone the race meeting raised a truly incredible £33,300 for our 50th anniversary appeal ‘Sussex Giving for Sussex Children’.

Michael Burnage MBE, event organiser and Rockinghorse ambassador, said: “It is a lot of fun working with the guys from The Bears, and to be able to raise some serious money for the children’s hospital. The difference we make as a group to young lives with the new equipment we purchase is staggering and incredibly humbling.”

Hollie Trezise, Community Events Fundraising Manager at Rockinghorse, said: “We’re very much looking forward to The Bears Bash again this year. This is always such a well-attended event and we are so grateful to Michael and the team for their enthusiasm and hard work to make the event such a success year after year.”

With the promise of plenty of exciting action on the day, spectators are advised to arrive early for the evening event which starts at 6pm.
