Two more clinic spaces have been transformed within the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital thanks to Rockinghorse and Grosvenor Interiors.
On Level 4 of The Alex there are two departments that see lots of different patients with a range of different conditions.
The Audiology Team provide hearing assessment and therapy for children and young people with auditory issues, whilst the Respiratory Team care for children with allergies, asthma and a wide range of other childhood respiratory conditions.
Both spaces see lots of children and families every day so having waiting areas and clinic spaces that are friendly, welcoming and calming can make a huge difference to their experience of being in the hospital.
They also help the Healthcare Professionals diagnose and treat their young patients; having patients who are relaxed and at ease rather than worried or anxious, can mean they are better able to manage their care.
Within the Audiology department, we have updated the waiting area with new seating, then in the clinic space itself there is a new welcome graphic by Grosvenor Interiors and some great new floor mats that help young people and team members use more of the space within the clinic rooms.
In the Respiratory department, the clinic space used by the Precision Medicine team treating children with asthma has been transformed from a dull boring room, into somewhere that everyone is much happier to use.
The walls have been decorated with some beautiful graphics, also thanks to Grosvenor Interiors, and a new large television has been installed to help with team meetings and viewing x-ray films.
This space is also used by other teams within the Respiratory department, including the Cystic Fibrosis Team. One of their members, cystic fibrosis nurse specialist Kathy Warde, loves the new room. She said, “We’ve now got this lovely picture on the wall of the sea and sky around Cuckmere Haven.
“It’s just lovely for patients and families to have a really calming effect on them when they’re in a stressful situation – they’re always commenting on it and everyone’s saying how lovely it is.
“Before it was done this space was just a bit plain, a bit basic. But now it’s awesome and just brightens it all up.”
