YouTuber Matt Cullimore recently completed another marathon POKEMON live stream on 30 July, raising over £4000 for Rockinghorse.
Matt regularly supports us through his fantastic YouTube channel where he organises a range of different POKEMON giveaways and competitions. And following his previous successful livestream events, Matt decided to undertake another one in support of Rockinghorse.
This latest event was sponsored by Akora Cards, Vaultx and Pokegrade and over 3,000 people tuned in during his 14-hour stream from 10.00am to midnight. Along with Pokémon openings and interviews, his partner Jasmine and eldest son Hugo also made an appearance during the epic challenge as did several other YouTubers including PokiChloe, PokeDean and Dr.Applesauce.
He also had a giveaway of some amazing prizes including an Xbox Series X, a Nintendo Switch Lite and Arceus game, an Akora kickstarter box and Pokemon GO sealed bundles.
Matt has been a regular supporter of Rockinghorse since 2019 when his youngest son Logan was cared for at the Trevor Mann Baby Unit after being born two months premature. Along with Logan being in hospital, Jasmine was also admitted to the ICU for ten days suffering from acute kidney failure following pre-eclampsia.
It was this experience that led Matt to gaining a better understanding of the work Rockinghorse do in the TMBU and Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital: “The care, equipment, staff and support given to Logan was incredible and because I knew how well cared for he was, it gave me a chance to take care of Jasmine as well.
Matt’s an old hand at these mammoth live streams now, commenting that: “The stream flew by, and I really enjoyed it! People really get behind the cause and know how much of a difference their donations make.
“The streams are always tough but knowing what we are raising money for, as well as knowing that it inspires others, makes it easier!”
Emma Cunliffe, Supporter Engagement Manager at Rockinghorse added: “We are so grateful for Matt’s streams for Rockinghorse over the years. It’s so impressive that he manages to keep going for so many hours and keep his energy up – I certainly couldn’t manage that!
“A big thank you to everyone who donated and helped him raise an incredible £4,120 which will make such a difference to the babies, children and young people we support!”
