Jack the Lad from the More Radio Sussex breakfast show successfully completed his 50mile hike along the South Downs Way in aid of Rockinghorse.
Despite the early starts and terrible weather, Jack the Lad, the much-loved Sussex radio presenter, finally reached the end of his Early Morning Mission last week.
Jack spent two weeks, walking every morning from 6.00am, along a route that took him from Amberley to Beachy Head.
Along the way he encountered wind, rain, difficult terrain and even bulls! But nothing would stop him reaching his goals and raising as much money as he could for Rockinghorse. And he did an amazing job with the currently fundraising total sitting at over £8,000!
Listen to some of Jack’s best bits here:
Jack began his mission on Monday 11 October and during the two weeks he was supported by his fellow breakfast presenters Tom and Lou along with a few Rockinghorse supporters who wanted to talk about their experiences.
These included Andy Fountain and his son Ed who had been treated at the Alex soon after being born in 1994, and Kerry with her Harrison who raised money for Rockinghorse by shaving his head!
Janella Merritt, Head of Fundraising, also appeared on the show and even joined Jack on the final leg of his walk. She said: “This was such an amazing challenge to undertake and we’re so thankful to Jack for all his efforts. Not only has he managed to raise an amazing amount of money, but he has also been able to spread the word about the work we do to so many people throughout Sussex.
“Having done only one part of the walk with him, I really don’t know how he did it! Everyone here at Rockinghorse wants to thank him, and the whole team at More Radio, for all the hard work and dedication that was put in to supporting us!”
