Halloween fun and fundraising

We played host to our third annual spooktacular Rockinghorse Halloween quiz last week (Thursday 27 October) at Brighton Pier’s Palm Court Restaurant.

Hosted by Gareth Sheppard from Quiz Host UK, the event was attended by over 160 supporters with many dressed in Halloween-inspired outfits. Participants took part in five rounds of quiz trivia, including a special horror movie round, as well as the karaoke team-challenge in a bid to score extra points.

26 teams from local businesses entered and raised over £4,700 for sick children in Sussex. Prizes went to Searches UK (team FrankenEinstein’s) for the best Halloween costumes (pictured below left), and the winners of the quiz were the Hilton Brighton Metropole (team Bright-On-It) who were crowned 2016 champions (pictured below right).

Hannah Seltzer, Events Fundraising Coordinator at Rockinghorse, said: “Thanks to everyone who joined us for our Halloween quiz on Brighton Pier, helping us to raise a fantastic amount of money. Of course, events like this wouldn’t be possible without the support of some very generous businesses and individuals, so a very big thank you to those that donated decorations and prizes.”

Rockinghorse is best-known as the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton, raising money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment. We recently launched the ‘Sussex Giving for Sussex Children’ 50th year appeal for 2017, when we aim to raise £500,000 worth of funding to be split between 10 children’s centres and paediatric services in Sussex.
