Lee Hilton, founder and owner of Goring Electrical, recently took on a skydive in aid of Rockinghorse.
Our supporters do so many things to raise money for us. From bake sales to beach cleans, marathons to match funding, but for some people, being able to step out of their comfort zone and do something truly spectacular is a real challenge.
Lee Hilton is a big Rockinghorse supporter, having sponsored our Rockinghorse Circus of Dreams earlier this year following a conversation about our work with a friend.
Lee said, “I was talking with Ryan Fenwick, back in December, regarding supporting a charity for my company going forward. He said that Rockinghorse was a fantastic charity to support.
“We do attend various charity events throughout the year, so this year I thought I would be nice to support our own one as a company and Rockinghorse ticks all the boxes for me.”
As part of his continued fundraising, Lee then decided to find another way to fundraise for us and decided to take on what many would consider the ultimate challenge – a skydive!
So, on a sunny day in August, Lee made his way to Go Skydive in Salisbury and got ready for his jump along with a group of other daredevils.
As this was a tandem jump, where you are strapped to an instructor, the training involves an introduction to the equipment and what to expect from the jump, followed by understanding how to learning about the right body position and how to land safely.
Then it was into the gear and onto the plane to fly up to the right height for the jump – no turning back now!
The jump went really well and was really exhilarating. Lee said, “I decided this was the perfect challenge for me to show my support personally and as a company for the fantastic Rockinghorse Charity.
“Jumping at 15,000 ft is no easy task but nothing like these family’s deal with every day.”
Thanks to Lee’s fundraising efforts, he managed to raise over £5,000 so far which is an amazing amount and will make such a huge difference to so many children and families.
Amanda Hetherington, Head of Fundraising and Partnerships at Rockinghorse, was really impressed with Lee’s efforts. She said, “We are very grateful to Lee Hilton for taking on this amazing challenge to skydive out of a plane in aid of Rockinghorse Children’s Charity, his support has been incredible!
“Along with completing this brilliant challenge, Goring Electrical kindly sponsored our Rockinghorse Charity Ball this year, provided prizes and have a Golf Day planned in October. All the team at Rockinghorse are so grateful for their continued support, which will make such a difference to so many children and families.”
