Golfers hit a hole in one for Rockinghorse
Rockinghorse held its first-ever charity golf day at Mid Sussex Golf Club this month.
The fundraising event took place on Wednesday 4 September, raising almost £6,500. Sponsored by FRP Advisory and in partnership with Sussex Business Times, the golf day was attended by 17 teams from businesses across Sussex.
Teams of four players paid £250 to enter, which included breakfast and a two-course lunch at Mid Sussex Golf Club in Ditchling. Despite a rainy start to the day, the sun shone as golfers took to the 18-hole course which is set within the beautiful Mid Sussex countryside.
Each hole was sponsored by a different business and we also raised funds through a raffle. A host of fantastic prizes were on offer, which had been kindly donated to our charity. Professional golfer, Toby Graves, also made an appearance during the day. He donated a one-to-one golfing experience, which went for £200.
Golfers raise an incredible £6,400
It was all to play for as golfers stood the chance of winning a number of prizes during the round. They included; nearest the pin, nearest the line, longest drive and winning team. There was also a top prize of a brand-new car! This was on offer to anyone that hit a hole in one on the course, courtesy of Hendy Ford in Horsham.
Golf day sponsors, FRP Advisory, were crowned as the winning team. Chris Stevens, Partner at FRP Advisory, said, “We were delighted to be able to sponsor the inaugural Rockinghorse Charity Golf Day. It was an absolute pleasure to support such a fantastic local charity and we were over the moon to win!”
Stella Buckingham, Events Fundraising Manager at Rockinghorse, added, “We are so pleased with the support received for our very first golf day which raised an incredible £6,400! Huge thanks to Mike and the team at Mid Sussex Golf Club for helping to make the day such a success. We’re already looking forward to our next one in 2020.”
Here at Rockinghorse, we aim to improve the lives of poorly babies, children and young people in Sussex. We raise funds for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment as well as items to ensure that children are treated in an environment better suited to their needs.
Rockinghorse is best known as the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton. We also support the neighbouring Trevor Mann Baby Unit and its sister site, the Special Care Baby Unit in Haywards Heath. In addition, we provide funding for neonatal units, respite centres and paediatric services across the county.
