The Giving Trees returned to Churchill Square shopping centre this week along with a great new selfie booth all in aid of Rockinghorse.
Each Christmas Churchill Square shopping centre organise their famous Giving Tree where shoppers can buy gifts which will be donated to Rockinghorse. And this year, there are more ways for shoppers to support us with their new selfie rooms.
The centre has created 8 different selfie backdrops, all related to the festive season, where shoppers can take pictures of themselves and their families – perfect for Christmas cards! And every penny of the small entrance fee is being donated to Rockinghorse.
As of Thursday 1 December, visitors to Churchill Square can find the special Christmas trees, located on the east, west and lower central malls. Shoppers can then select a tag and purchase a recommended gift for a child. The unwrapped, donated item can then to be taken to the customer services desk, along with the tag, up until 5pm on Christmas Eve.
All the gifts will help Rockinghorse provide presents to children in hospital this Christmas. Donations will be taken to the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton, and to other hospital settings throughout Sussex.
And if you prefer to make use of the selfie rooms, just make your way to the west entrance way of the mall, between Footasylum and Schuh Kids.
Amanda Hetherington, Corporate Engagement Manager at Rockinghorse met Tara Phillips, Retail Marketing Executive from Churchill Square for the launch of the Giving Trees on Thursday 1 December.
Mark Buchanan-Smith, Centre Director at Churchill Square, is hoping to build on the success of 2021, he said: “Our Giving Tree initiative is now in its twelfth year and each time the generosity of the community really touches us.
“Being able to deliver so many gifts to Rockinghorse last Christmas meant so much to us, the charity and most importantly the families and children who are unwell at this special time of year. We’re looking forward to making it bigger and better for 2022 and we hope our shoppers will once again dig deep when they are out shopping this festive period. We know that lots of very special children will receive a wonderful surprise,” said Mark.
Amanda added: “We are so grateful to Churchill Square for choosing to support us again during this year’s Giving Tree appeal.
“And to have the addition of the brilliant selfie rooms, this year is shaping up to be a great one for shoppers and for Rockinghorse.
“We look forward to donating the generous presents people will donate to young people in hospital again to help make their Christmas that little bit better.”
