Father Christmas visits the Rockinghorse Christmas party!

Father Christmas comes to say hello!

Over 100 children and their families came along to the special Christmas party, especially for outpatients from the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital.

Every year Rockinghorse and The Play Team at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital organise a special Christmas party, at the Doubletree By Hilton Brighton Metropole, for outpatients from the hospital so they can really get into the festive spirit.

The party is a great chance for children, siblings and their parents and carers to come along and have some fun together, especially if they have had a challenging year and spent lots of time in hospital.

And this year there were lots of things for the children to enjoy, including a DJ, a magician and entertainer, a face painter, a photo booth and a toy tombola where children could win some lovely prizes.

But no Christmas party would be complete without a visit to Santa’s Grotto. Luckily the special man was able to take some time out of his hectic pre-Christmas schedule to spend some time at the party.

Katy Rowe, a member of The Play Team, was really pleased at how the party had gone. She said, “It’s so lovely to be able to welcome so many children and their families to the party. Some of them have had a really difficult year, spending loads of time in hospital, so to be able to celebrate Christmas in this way makes such a difference.

“To see the smiles on their faces and how much they enjoy every single minute of the party is really wonderful. We organise this event every year, and every year we’re blown away by the impact it has on so many people!”

Rhian Walsh, Finance and Operations Director at Rockinghorse, was at the party along with her son Iestyn. Rhian said, “We always so glad to be able to put on a party for the outpatients, it’s great to get everyone together to have some fun.

“It was also really lovely to meet so many families on the day that get support from the amazing NHS staff at the hospital. The party was such great fun and it was great to see Father Christmas make an appearance!”

This party is only possible because of the generous donations of our supporters.

Without your help, events like this simply wouldn’t happen – you put smiles on the faces of children and their families and that’s priceless. Thank you.
