Color Obstacle Rush supports Rockinghorse

Funrun Events UK, organisers of the popular Color Obstacle Rush, has donated an amazing £3,000 to support sick children in Sussex.

The Color Obstacle Rush took place at Brighton Racecourse earlier this year and saw teams and individuals take part in a series of crazy challenges as part of the inflatable obstacle course – with some colourful surprises along the way!

As the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton, we raise money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment, as well as ensuring that children are treated in an environment better suited to their needs. Here at Rockinghorse we also support a number of other children’s services and centres across Sussex, including Chalkhill Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit in Haywards Heath; the only in-patient hospital for children and young people in Sussex with complex mental health issues.

The money donated by Funrun Events UK from the Color Obstacle Rush, will have a huge impact on the activities we are able to provide for the young people who benefit from our charity. Activities such as art therapy, yoga, music therapy and day trips out are not funded by the local council or NHS, so we have set up ‘The Rockinghorse Activities Programme’ to provide these activities for the young people, which is invaluable to their recovery and wellbeing. We were delighted to welcome the Funrun Events UK team to the Alex for a tour of the facilities (pictured above with Gayle from the Play Team).

Analiese Doctrove, Head of Fundraising at Rockinghorse, thanked Funrun Events UK for their support. She said: “Last year Rockinghorse funded a successful pilot scheme of therapeutic activities at Chalkhill. With the donation from Funrun Events, we will be able to commit to further sessions for young people at Chalkhill and extend this scheme to include other care centres too. These activities will provide extra benefits and opportunities, such as giving children the chance to socialise and spend time away from medical procedures.”

Markus Niemelä, CEO of Funrun Events UK, said: “We find the work of Rockinghorse really essential and valuable and are really happy to contribute our support. We would also like to thank all the runners who have used their participation (in the Color Obstacle Rush) for raising money for great charities such as Rockinghorse.”

The Color Obstacle Rush will be back at Brighton Racecourse on Saturday 6 May and we’re looking for supporters to take part and raise funds for Rockinghorse! Book your place now at a discounted rate of £34.50 per person until 11 January by clicking here:
