Calling early risers to run for Rockinghorse

A unique running event is set to make its return to Brighton this month, raising money for Rockinghorse.

Run 5.30 is the Italian running phenomenon, bringing its tour to Brighton on Friday 20 July. Early risers will have the chance to run 5.3km through the streets at 5.30am as the rest of the city sleeps.

Participants can discover Brighton in a whole new light during a race that starts and finishes along New Road, incorporating a route through the beautiful Royal Pavilion Gardens and the seafront promenade.

We’re pleased to be the beneficiary charity of the event for the second year running. Last year Run 5.30 participants raised over £600 for our 50th anniversary appeal, ‘Sussex Giving for Sussex Children’.

Hannah Seltzer, Challenge Events Fundraising Manager at Rockinghorse, said: “We are very excited to partner with Run 5.30 again this year for this unique fun run through the streets of Brighton. Last year saw some very dedicated early-risers run to raise vital funds for sick children in Sussex, so we very much hope to have a great turnout again this year.”

Registration is £18 per adult or £14 per child, with £1 from each sign-up being donated to Rockinghorse. Your entry fee includes a Run 5.30 t-shirt, finishing medal, breakfast and drinks. To find out more and to secure your place, visit

We’re asking participants to raise what they can for our current appeal, as we aim to raise £24,000 for extra ventilators at the High Dependency Unit in Brighton’s Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital. Click here to find out more.
