Specialist charity insurer, Ansvar, has awarded us with £3,000 of funding towards a new virtual fracture clinic project.

Rockinghorse is one of five charities in Sussex to receive a grant. Ansvar gave away an incredible £150,000 to applicants from worthy causes across the county.

We are delighted to have been successful in receiving a grant of £3,000. The donated funds will support a revolutionary new service at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton.

The Paediatric Orthopaedic Emergency Virtual Clinic is being developed to support children with suspected fractures. It’s a service that will provide an alternative solution to young people, who are usually required to travel to the standard fracture clinic on the site of the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Currently, the Alex provides a twice-weekly fracture clinic for young patients. The newly developed service will aim to increase the number of patients who can be seen. It will also aim reduce the numbers of patients who have to travel to the standard fracture clinic.

In addition, online information and video will enable children to have a visual understanding of what is happening. This will help to alleviate anxiety for both the patients and parents.
