A big boost from RiverStone

We’ve received a huge boost to our fundraising thanks to a donation of £88,000 from RiverStone Management Limited.

RiverStone, who are part of the insurance and reinsurance operations of Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited, previously donated £9,000 to Rockinghorse in 2012, which enabled us to purchase a state of the art pain distraction unit for the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital. Following this, and hearing about the incredible impact these pain distractors have had, RiverStone wanted to make a further donation that would once again help young patients.

Staff from the Preston Road office in Brighton, including RiverStone Managing Director Luke Tanzer, presented the cheque to Rockinghorse Head of Fundraising, Analiese Doctrove (pictured above). In total, RiverStone donated £175,000 in 2015 to a variety of charitable causes, including three significant donations to charities close to each of their UK offices. Rockinghorse was chosen as their Brighton office donation. This year, RiverStone plan to continue their annual charity donations at the same level and to support their employees’ own charitable giving with their triple matching programme.

As the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (The Alex) in Brighton, we raise money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment, whilst ensuring that children are treated in an environment better suited to their needs.

Analiese Doctrove, Head of Fundraising at Rockinghorse, said: “We can’t thank RiverStone enough for their very generous donation. The money will enable us to fund a number of important projects at the Alex, including a children’s dedicated asthma clinic. It’s thanks to companies such as RiverStone that we are able to continue our work to support sick children in Sussex.”
