Two friends from Brighton took part in a mammoth charity walk at the weekend (Saturday 7 May) to help us raise funds for sick children in Sussex.

Anit Chatrath and Rebecca Dean completed the challenging 40 mile walk and jog across the South Downs National Park in 11 hours and 30 minutes to raise over £900…and counting!

65 people entered the mammoth 60K course, but due to the heatwave over the weekend, the challenge became too much for many participants. Anit and Rebecca successfully finished in 21st place, which is a fantastic achievement.

Speaking of the challenge, Anit said: “Rebecca and I are extremely proud to have promoted and supported the Rockinghorse cause as it is very close to our hearts and we were determined to achieve our fundraising target of £750. I’m also delighted to update you that we’ve now raised just over £900 and are making a real effort to reach £1,000.”

As the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) and a vital supporter of the Trevor Mann Baby Unit (TMBU) in Brighton, Rockinghorse raises money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment, whilst also ensuring that children are treated in an environment better suited to their needs.
