£12,500 raised at the Sussex Business Awards

Annual event recognises the best in Sussex business.

The Sussex Business Awards took place at The Grand in Brighton last week and raised more than £12,500 for Rockinghorse.

The prestigious black-tie event, organised by Platinum Media Group, recognises the achievements and resilience of the county’s business community. Comedian Alun Cochrane hosted the ceremony which brought together some of the most successful companies – and their leaders – in Sussex.

Around 470 guests enjoyed a fabulous evening with a delicious three-course meal before the awards were announced. Chief Executive of Rockinghorse, Donna Holland, spoke at the event, sharing with guests all the work the charity does during the Christmas season to support children and their families in hospital and to thank everyone in the room for supporting the charity.

Guests were invited to enter a raffle to have the chance to win some incredible prizes including two family stays at Condover Hall Activity Centre, a Sussex Dining Experience including meals at The Ivy, Gars Restaurant, The Permit Room and Hotel du Vin, five-course tasting menu and wine flight at Tottington Manor, four tickets to any Sussex Cricket match, a four ball golf voucher for Cuckfield Golf Club and the opportunity to be a Motoring Editor for the day for Platinum Business Magazine.

All of these amazing prizes had been generously donated so every penny of the money raised on the night came straight to Rockinghorse.

Gavin Willis was at the awards with members of his Search Seven team after being shortlisted for the Creative Industries Award and winning Highly Commended in the CEO of the Year Award at the event. He said, ‘I’m really proud to have received this recognition, especially as a thank you for the team, they work so incredibly hard, and I am so so grateful for all their commitment, energy and passion. They go above and beyond to deliver for our clients, but they also help us go above and beyond in delivering for our community too.

“I’m also so pleased that Rockinghorse were chosen as the event’s charity partner once again. As a Trustee, they are a charity that’s close to my heart and it’s great that everyone at the event could hear more from Donna about the work they do, especially at this important time of year.’

Donna added: “This was such an amazing evening and to raise £12,500 for Rockinghorse is absolutely wonderful. Thanks to everyone who bought a raffle ticket and to Liz Beck from Aspiring HR for so generously rounding up the final figure to this amazing amount!

‘An event like this is also such a wonderful opportunity to meet so many supporters of Rockinghorse who are keen to offer their help, share stories of their children being supported, or who want to get involved in our projects and campaigns.

“Thanks also to Maarten, Fiona, and the whole Platinum Media team for delivering such a memorable and successful evening. We’re really looking forward to working with everyone at Platinum Media Group in the future.”
