A trip out to a local café or restaurant could help support children in your local community.
Having a meal out or popping for a quick coffee has become a much more popular thing to do in recent years. Whether it’s catching up with a friend or celebrating a family birthday, there are lots of reasons we might head out for a meal, but whatever the reason, you might be able to donate to Rockinghorse at the same time.
We are encouraging local cafes and restaurants within Sussex to add an optional donation to Rockinghorse onto their bills as an easy and cost-effective way to support us.
And whilst a £1 addition to the bill doesn’t sound like a lot, it has the potential to make a huge impact on our ability to support thousands of babies, children and young people. Plus, it’s a great way to show customers and employees that you care about your local community.
Here’s how it works
Setting up a donation is quick and easy, with minimal admin for restaurant staff. Here’s how it works:
- Restaurants add a £1 ‘Rockinghorse Children’s Charity Donation’ onto their electronic till, or perhaps choose a particular dish, or maybe even a cocktail to associate with the donation.
- They then set the donation, so it’s automatically added to each bill after service charge and VAT so there’s no impact on VAT returns for the business.
- Each month they collect the donations and send it to us by cheque or bank transfer.
Alternatively, they could decide a different amount or choose to round up the bill to the nearest pound. For example, if the bill comes to £10.34, it could be rounded up to £11.00 giving us a donation of 66p.
It’s that easy
But it doesn’t just work in restaurants. Kyriakos Baxevanis, Co Founder and Managing Director of Little Jasmine Therapies and Spa chose to add £1 on his customer’s bills at his three spa sites within the city. He explained his decision to support Rockinghorse, “At Little Jasmine, our purpose is to improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of 1 million people in our community.
“Supporting Rockinghorse through the £1 campaign was an incredibly simple yet meaningful way to align with that goal and give back to the local community. It was easy to put in place, and both our team and clients really embraced the idea, knowing that even a small contribution could have a significant impact on children and families in need.
“It created a sense of connection and purpose within the business, and we’re proud to support such an important cause.”
