Are you ready to Run, Ride or Ramble for Rockinghorse?

So, lace up those trainers, pull on some Lycra or put on those walking boots and join in to collectively clock up 40,075km, help us circumnavigate the globe and raise much needed funds for Rockinghorse.

All we ask is a £50 minimum sponsorship or donation to get involved. Join our Run, Ride or Ramble for Rockinghorse Club on Strava here: https://www.strava.com/clubs/rockinghorse

If you’re not aware of Strava, it’s an app that tracks your fitness activity, recording your run, walk or cycle route along with distance and time, you can even join up with your friends to share your achievements.

You can choose whatever way works best for you to help us collate those kilometers, as long as you record your distances on the Strava app – however far you manage to go it will all help us to reach our total.

Here are some idea about how you can get involved:

Go solo

Pick a distance, break it down and get started! Maybe you have been wanting to climb that hill for ages or just increase your fitness? Either way, set yourself a target to work towards – whether its running a mile a day for a month, completing a big 20 mile hike walk in one day or ‘virtually’ running from Edinburgh to Brighton (that’s 749 kilometers!).

If you live in the city, why not ditch the bus or the car and walk everywhere for the summer months, ask for sponsorship or donating the money you would have spent on petrol or travel fares?

Challenge friends and family

Make a day of it by packing a lunch and heading to the great outdoors together. Take a gentle stroll somewhere scenic or, if you’re feeling energetic, up the ante to reach the same distance as a 24-hour Three Peaks Challenge.

Just break down the distance and plan how you can reach it by spreading it over a few days, weeks or months. So, if you wanted to take on a coast to coast walk such as the distance from St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay (306 km if you’re interested), you could try and cover 10km a day for a month.

Or if you’ve always wanted to cycle the 1,406kms from Lands’ End to John o Groats, you could do 140km a week for 10 weeks?

Walk the Dog!

If you’ve got a dog and regularly go out for a nice ramble, why not register your four-legged friend to walk a distance of 30km? Get his doggie friends to sponsor him and join in too!

Work together

It could be that you join together with your Strava friends, your running club or a lunchtime walkers’ group. More people mean bigger distances so you could set yourself an even greater target. Just get your pedometers or Garmins on and see how far you get over the course of a month.
