The Bungalow
The Bungalow is a respite centre in Eastbourne for
children with a range of health needs, from those with learning disabilities to
children with complex medical needs. The centre offers parents a chance to get
a much-needed break, safe in the knowledge that their children are receiving
the best possible care.
While the facilities for the younger children at The Bungalow are good, something was very much needed for the teenagers. In June 2010, Rockinghorse launched an appeal to provide an outdoor activity area for the young people who use the centre.
A fantastic £25,000 has been raised for the project and work on the garden is already underway. We hope to launch the new garden in the autumn.
The activity area will have fun outdoor exercise equipment including a hand operated static bicycle and pull-up machines that children in wheelchairs will be able to use. The young people will also enjoy a musical instrument area and part of the garden will be covered by a hyperbolic sail shade.
The area will provide stimulation and fun while getting the children outside into the fresh air.
