Orchard House

The young people enjoying an activity break, thanks to Orchard HouseOrchard House is a short break unit in Cuckfield, which serves the surrounding areas and offers a lifeline for many families with children who have complex disabilities. Many of the young people who visit the centre have severe autism and challenging behaviour. The principle purpose of this and every short break unit is to give parents a break from the enormous pressures of caring for a child with such complex needs.

Much of the work at a respite centre involves keeping children occupied and most importantly, happy. However, at Orchard House staff members go that extra mile to stimulate, develop and entertain children so that it is not just a break for parents, but a really positive experience for the children too. This means that the visiting children look forward to their break and often don’t want to go home!

We're working with Orchard House to provide a sensory garden, as well as activity breaks for the young people who use the centre.
