Beeches

Nicholas Owen, Beeches staff and James enjoying the play roomAt Beeches, children with severe learning and physical disabilities come to enjoy a break in the care of expert staff, while their parents can also have a chance to recharge their batteries. This service is provided by Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

A vital part of the support and interaction with children of this kind is stimulation and so Rockinghorse wants to provide Beeches with a brand new multi-sensory room.

The room will have a variety of interactive components from lights that change when certain buttons are pressed to textures, sounds and even smells that can be triggered by the children themselves.

There will be patterns projected from the ceiling making shapes on the floor that the children can alter as they walk through them and a film and games area for the older children.

Funding is now complete for this room and work will begin early in the New Year. We look forward to bringing you news and photos from the launch soon.

Support for the multisensory room has been received from The Openwork Foundation, The Scouloudi Foundation, ECHO Trust, White Stuff in Reigate and Redhill, Paul Placitelli, and Reigate Round Table No.119, amongst many others. We’re extremely grateful to all individuals, community groups, trusts and companies who have contributed to this project.
