Gastro-intestinal unit

Dr. Assad Butt and Professor David Candy lead on the project for the GI UnitRockinghorse is proud to announce that the new Gastro-intestinal (GI) and Nutrition Clinical Investigation Unit at The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital has now been launched.

The clinical investigation unit, which is based on level seven at The Alex, is indispensible for the team who work with children affected by a range of GI conditions and will play a key part in advancing treatment and research in these and related illnesses. As well as directly benefiting the children and young people of Sussex, this unit will establish a national and international reputation for care and clinical research in GI disorders.

Thanks to our supporters from across Sussex and a generous grant from the Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust, Rockinghorse was able to raise over £25,500 for this project. This also includes the purchase of key pieces of equipment for undertaking both established and novel investigations and research, which would otherwise be unavailable.

Dr. Assad Butt and Prof. David Candy who led on the project, are extremely grateful to all the supporters that have made it possible.
