Trusts and foundations
Many trusts and foundations help
Rockinghorse by providing donations towards our work. This funding makes a crucial contribution to
the care and treatment of sick and disabled children in Sussex and Surrey, by
helping us to ensure health facilities and services are as comfortable, cutting
edge and accessible as possible and can better meet the needs of children and
their families. Below are examples of
how trusts have supported us:
The Body Shop Foundation has very generously funded a programme of recreational activities for young people at Chalkhill Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit in Haywards Heath, which is aimed at complementing their clinical therapy and re-integrating them back into family, school and community life as quickly as possible.
Bruce Wake Charitable Trust is supporting Rockinghorse’s Bungalow respite centre project in Eastbourne. The charity is providing specially adapted outdoor gym equipment for young people with physical and learning disabilities, which will help to reduce health problems associated with inactive lifestyles and promote social inclusion.
The Childwick Trust
Rockinghorse is very
grateful for The Childwick Trust's continuing support, which most recently has
enabled the charity to provide specialist medical equipment for the Trevor
Mann Baby Unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust is one of Rockinghorse’s longest standing supporters. During 2010 the the Trust funded a project to create a Gastro-Intestinal Unit at The Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Brighton, which will not only advance the treatment of children with GI conditions in Sussex, but also produce research of national significance.
The London Law Trust has supported Rockinghorse's project to provide recreational and skill building activities for young people with acute mental health needs at Chalkhill Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit.
Openwork Foundation is very generously supporting Rockinghorse's project to provide a new multi-sensory room at Beeches respite centre in Reigate. The room will have the most up to date equipment available, ensuring the children have increased opportunities to relax, have fun and develop their skills to their full ability.
The Scouloudi Foundation
Rockinghorse’s
new multisensory room at Beeches respite centre, which is being
supported by The Scouloudi Foundation, will provide an environment that disabled
children are able to control and feel safe exploring, making their difficulties
with social communication and interaction easier to manage.
St. James’s Place Foundation has very generously provided a donation towards redeveloping the garden at Orchard House in Cuckfield to enable children with complex disabilities and challenging behaviour to explore the garden securely and safely and enjoy a full range of sensory opportunities.
Tesco Charity Trust
Rockinghorse is delighted to have received a
donation from the Trust towards the Bungalow respite centre project that
will give disabled children increased opportunities to enjoy the everyday
physical and recreational activities that other young people so often take for
granted.
