It is with great sadness to receive news that our charity’s patron, Lady Herries DCVO (formerly Lady Mary Mumford), has died aged 76.

Lady-in-Waiting to HRH Princess Alexandra and daughter of the 16th Duke of Norfolk, Bernard Marmaduke, Angmering Park Estate has confirmed that Lady Herries passed away peacefully at home on Friday.

Lady Herries has been Rockinghorse Children’s Charity’s one and only patron since the charity was founded 50 years ago, by the late Dr Trevor Mann back in 1967.

Ryan Heal, Chief Executive of Rockinghorse, has paid tribute. He said: “Lady Mary Mumford cared so much about Rockinghorse, and even in her latter years we kept in regular contact on our news. This is a very sad day for our charity as we remember our one and only patron who was personally asked by Dr Trevor Mann to take on the role back in 1967. She was our one and only ever patron. We will miss her and we thank her for all she has done for Rockinghorse and beyond.”
