Charity cheese and wine night

We welcomed guests to a cheese and wine evening last week, which raised over £1,600 towards our 50th anniversary appeal.

The event on Thursday 16 February was held in the Dome Room at Hotel du Vin, which was kindly donated to us for the evening.

Guests were treated to a selection of five cheeses, handpicked by David Deaves from La Cave á Fromage in Hove (pictured above, right), which he donated along with his time to speak about their unique taste and origin. Henry Butler from Butler’s Wine Cellar in Brighton (pictured above, left) also donated his time to join David and informed guests how to successfully pair wine and cheese, providing a selection of complementing reds and whites.

Over 60 of our supporters were in attendance and collectively raised £1,690 through ticket sales and a raffle. Money raised will be donated towards our Sussex Giving for Sussex Children Golden Jubilee appeal. We aim to raise £500,000 in 2017 which will be split between 10 children’s centres and paediatric services in Sussex.

Analiese Doctrove, Head of Fundraising at Rockinghorse Children’s Charity, said: “Our thanks to everyone who attended the cheese and wine evening, raising a fantastic amount of money towards our 50th year appeal. A special thank you to David Deaves from La Cave á Fromage, Henry Butler from Butler’s Wine Cellar, and the team from Hotel du Vin for their support in making it another successful event.”
